Running Your First Marathon?
More of a superhero than Superman, devoted Catholic Sister Madonna Buder ran her first marathon when she was 52.
To date, this woman of God has :
- Completed more than 325 triathlons,
- Among which 45 have been Ironman distance competitions, and
- At 75, she became the oldest woman to complete the Hawaii Ironman
So what does an 87-year old do to stay in shape?
Well, she claims to "train religiously". Of course.
But really, what made this amazing woman, unlikely to fit the triathlete champion profile, raise to the top of her age group?
Well, what she calls "unlimited youth" for one thing.
Right Attitude For Working Out
“You carry your attitude with you,” Sister Buder elaborates. “You either achieve or you self-destruct. If you think positively, you can even turn a negative into a positive.” Along with this spiritual guidance, she imparts simple, yet easily applicable performance advice to younger athletes: “One step at a time makes a marathon.” (Source: Nike News)
